The Amsterdam MBA
MBA FAQ
When do lectures take place?
Lectures for the part-time programme take place in the evenings two times a week (with one day in between)
Lectures for the full-time programme take place either during the daytime or together with the part-time programme in the evening, depending on the availability of the lecturer.
Am I eligible for the MBA with a Bachelor degree from a University of Applied Sciences (HBO)?
As of the academic year 2012-13, students with a Bachelor degree issued by a “University of Applied Sciences” (HBO), require additional pre-Master coursework in order to attain eligibility for the full-time and part-time MBA programme.
We would like to point out that the University of Amsterdam offers a pre-Master programme that covers these courses, either in Dutch or in English. Classes take place on Fridays during the day. For more information please click on the link below under “pre-Master programme Business Studies” (we apologize that at present the information on the website is in Dutch only).
Alternatively, if you are currently living outside the Netherlands, you might look for pre-Master courses in these areas at a local university.
In case you are not sure if the institution where you studied falls into the category of “University of Applied Sciences” (as opposed to a “Research University”) please send an email to admissions-abs@uva.nl and we will find out for you.
What is the content of the Pre-master Business Studies?
The Pre-master consists of courses in the following areas:
- Strategic Management and Marketing
- Marketing Management
- Strategy and Organisation
- Quantitative Methods
- Management Research Methods
- Academic Project
- Finance or HRM (one of these electives)
Do I get assistance in finding accommodation?
The Housing department of the University of Amsterdam will contact admitted students (who have paid the enrolment fee) at the end of May to start the accommodation procedure. The UvA will provide student accommodation for international full-time students.
